(Aug. 5, 2013) SANTA CRUZ — Months before President Barack Obama’s new health care plan is set to take full effect, a trio of Santa Cruz County health care providing organizations on Monday announced a partnership they say will ease the transition, make it easier for them to serve the expected increases in people seeking medical services.
Santa Cruz Community Health is supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as part of an award totaling $1,930,819, with 91% financed with nonfederal government sources. This health center is a health center program grantee under 42 U.S.C. 254b, and a deemed public health service employee under 42 U.S.C. 233(g)-(q). Its employees and qualified contractors are deemed to be public health service employees under 42 U.S.C. 233(g)-(q). The legal liability of the health center and staff is limited pursuant to the public health service act.
