Dr. Walker has been a pediatrician in Santa Cruz, CA since 2002. She is currently taking on the role of Director of the Pediatric Center of Excellence at Santa Cruz Community Health. She is a co-chair of the Pediatric Healthcare Taskforce for Santa Cruz County and the pediatric medical director of the Concurrent Care For Children pediatric program of Hospice of Santa Cruz County, which she helped co-found in 2018. She has a long-standing interest in children’s issues, women’s issues, social justice and advocacy. She has been a very active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) since 1995. She is immediate past president of California AAP Chapter 1 which represents the northern 48 counties of California and she has been very active in local pediatric care, having served as Chair of the Dominican Hospital Santa Cruz Pediatric Quality Improvement Committee, Chair of the Dominican Hospital Pediatric Service, and as Pediatric Medical Director for Dominican Hospital Santa Cruz. She attended college at Stanford University majoring in biology and feminist studies, attended medical school at Columbia University in New York City and then returned to California for her pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital Oakland. She enjoys spending time with friends and family and reading, music, hiking and being in nature.
