Santa Cruz Women’s Health Center Expands

‘Santa Cruz Community Health Centers’ will encompass existing Santa Cruz Women’s Health Center and East Cliff Family Health Center, set to open in May

APRIL 3, 2014 — SANTA CRUZ, CA — The Santa Cruz Women’s Health Center is establishing a corporate entity, “Santa Cruz Community Health Centers” to oversee two separate clinic sites. It will operate its existing 40-year-old Santa Cruz Women’s Health Center in downtown Santa Cruz, and a new 9,000-square-foot clinic in Live Oak, the East Cliff Family Health Center.

Seeded by the Santa Cruz Women’s Health Center (SCWHC), Santa Cruz Community Health Centers is driven by its originator’s 40-year commitment to social justice and access to health care as human right. Its mission remains the same: to provide quality health services and advocate the feminist goals of social, political, and economic equality.

Facilities include the flagship clinic, SCWHC, in downtown Santa Cruz which will continue to serve women and children; and a brand new 9,000 square foot East Cliff Family Health Center in Live Oak, serving men, women, and children. The East Cliff Family Health Center located in the East Cliff Village Shopping Center opens in May.

“Establishing Santa Cruz Community Health Centers and naming the East Cliff Family Health Center marks an important and very exciting step forward as we expand to better serve our community,” said Leslie Conner, executive director of SCCHC. “Our naming structure reaffirms our commitment to community health through the provision of a broader scope of services to more patients than ever before.”
